Wolf Island

Isla de Lobos, Hoteles en Poza Rica

Did you know that the island of wolves won this 2023, best emerging tourist destination?
Today we are going to tell you how to get there and what you can do there,
You can arrive from Tuxpan or Tamiahua.
But today we will tell you leaving from Tamiahua, which is an hour and a half from Poza Rica you have to take a boat to the island which is 32 kilometers away and only 180 people can enter per day.

When you arrive you see the whole island, the lighthouse and the beach. From the moment you arrive you can appreciate the crystal clear waters and the reefs that surround the island. One of the main attractions is snorkeling or diving in the reef area, where you can see fish, turtles or dolphins and visit the sunken ship.

When you enter the island, you can appreciate its vegetation and visit its beach with almost white sand and the beautiful view, also snorkel as you can find different fish and turtles closer to the island.

Isla de Lobos, Hoteles en Poza Rica

Take into account that it is a protected natural area and does not have food and beverage services. It is an activity that takes all day so we recommend you take care of the sun and hydrate yourself.

When you return to Tamiahua before your return home, we recommend eating at a local place like la palapa de don layo to enjoy all the fresh seafood in the area.

What do you think? Would you dare to visit this destination?
The main attraction of the island is its beach, swimming in its crystal clear waters and snorkeling or diving in its reef area.

Of course, being a protected natural area, the island has no services, so you will not be able to buy food or drinks, nor will you find hotels, so it will just be you, your companions and the beach.
Lobos Island is recognized for being the largest island in Veracruz that allows access to tourism, besides being the closest island to the central zone of our country.

Around the island there are 4 different types of corals, among which are the elkhorn and the brain, with quite peculiar formations with more than 200 years old.
