Hotel Poza Rica Centro

Discovered by Diego Rivera, the late master Teodoro Cano, is recognized as one of the muralists with the longest trajectory and contribution to Mexican art. His works are cultural heritage of the municipalities where they are located, being Papantla where he painted his first mural. He used a high relief technique so that the works could withstand weather changes.

1. The Corpus Christi Fair

Located in the lobby of the Hotel Poza Rica, it was painted in 1960. This work represents the Totonaca culture and one of its most important festivals.

2. Community Service to Society

One of Teodoro Cano’s earliest works and is located in the “Lions Club”. It was painted in 1954 and the work symbolizes the sense of altruistic work that defines “Lions” as a worldwide group.

3. History of Education

Elaborated in 1969 and takes place at Concepción Fuentes Elementary School. The author’s intention was that his work would live on the wall of an educational institution so that the students would be aware of the history of Mexico.

4. The Origin of Education

The María Enriqueta Elementary School is home to one of the works of Maestro Cano made in 1991.

5. History of Oil Worker Medical Care

Created in 1997, the mural depicts a family resting on an outstretched hand, being supported by a doctor and an oil rig, highlighting the importance of medical service.

6. University Education

Located in the language center of the Universidad Veracruzana, this mural represents the responsibility of the academic staff to transmit knowledge to future generations and shows man as the central element of development and knowledge.

7. Breastfeeding

Inaugurated in 1999 and located in the I.S.S.T.E. hospital clinic, its objective is to show the essence of the origin of life and the connection between a mother and her child.

8. Oil and its Regional History

Inaugurated in the year 200, with a theme of prosperity and the promising future of the oil industry in the region, this mural is located in the main plaza of the central offices of the Northern Region of PEMEX.

9. To the Memory of Our Origins

Located on the façade of the S.T.P.R.M. building, this work was done in 2005 and represents the trajectory of the union struggle and its achievements.
