35 km from Poza Rica is a hidden paradise, Chaparrales Beach, in the municipality of Cazones, Veracruz. One of the most beautiful and cleanest beaches in the area and the Gulf of Mexico. The perfect beach if you are looking for a little privacy because it is less crowded, it stands out for the amount of shells you can find in the sand.
How to get there?
Arriving at Cazones, you can take the road to the left that will take you through the central park and you have to go straight until you reach the Cazones River where you will have to cross the river on a raft to get there. Once you cross the raft, you just have to follow the right path until you reach the various entrances to the beach.
What to do in Chaparrales?
Perfect to spend the whole day with the family, there are local businesses where you can have a drink or a snack, but we still recommend that you bring something to eat and drink because the options are limited.
Besides enjoying the day at the beach and swimming in the sea, there is also a sea turtle sanctuary here that releases several species of turtles every year.
One of the most important attractions of the beach is the Octopus Cave, which can only be entered on foot and when the tide is low, here you can find a fossilized octopus that was discovered 30 years ago.
